Las Vegas Veterans Memorial Moves Forward
Las Vegas City Council Approves Project

Michael Millett, a local businessman, veteran and board member of the Las Vegas Veterans Memorial, today received the endorsement of the Las Vegas City Council for the creation of Las Vegas' first Veterans Memorial. The memorial will be centrally located at Huntridge Circle Park and completely funded without taxpayer dollars.

"This is an exciting first step," said Millett. "Many area veterans and their families have looked for a place to honor America's heroes. With the approval of the City of Las Vegas, I look forward to the memorial becoming a part of our community in the near future."

Funding for the design and construction of the memorial will include several events. The hub of these activities will be the American Heroes Challenge, a two-day tactical competition in which teams will compete in six SWAT-like events. Competitors are expected from all areas of the country. Teams of four will be comprised of metropolitan SWAT teams, federal agencies, branches of the military and private security companies.

Huntridge Circle Park was chosen for the future home of the memorial for its central location, where people from across the valley will have equal and easy access. The park has a long history as part of the Las Vegas community.
